Thornton’s weekend starts off mild then turns cooler and wetter

Summer to fall. We start out with summer-like conditions Friday then the balance of the weekend see a change to conditions more typical for this time of year.

Friday will be calm and continue the same type of weather we have seen this week. Temperatures will be above normal with highs in the mid-80s under mostly sunny skies. Tonight, skies remain mostly clear with lows in the mid-50s.

Saturday starts off nice enough with sunny skies. A cold front will arrive as well though, cooling us a good bit with highs only in the upper 60s. In the late afternoon, moisture from the southwest increases and should bring rain, particularly from the evening and through the overnight hours. Saturday night rain continues with lows in the mid-40s.

Sunday will see most showers end by dawn but a few may linger in the morning hours. Skies start out cloudy but then will see gradual clearing in the afternoon. Highs will only be in the mid-50s.

As for overall precipitation amounts for the Saturday to Sunday timeframe, it is still a bit up in the air. Models have just not been able to give a consistent picture. One time they show nothing more than light rain, the next time a good dousing. Certainly it would be nice to see the wetter solutions verify.

Have a great weekend!
