NOAA State of the Climate: 2012 hottest year on record for United States

If you thought last year was warmer than normal the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) says you thought correctly. Sen. Harry Reid sparks outrage over comparison of Hurricane Sandy to Katrina

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s comment last week that those who suffered the effects of Hurricane Katrina had it easy as compared to the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy has sparked a quick and vicious response. Australia wildfires force evacuations, destroy homes amid fear of death toll

Colorado commission on Lower North Fork Fire recommends host of changes

The Lower North Fork Wildfire Commission released yesterday its recommendations for changes in the wake of the deadly spring blaze. Storm chasers capture stunning video of tornado in New Zealand

Much like in the United States, spring and summer bring severe weather to New Zealand and that does sometimes mean tornadoes. Weather app inspired by six-year-old brings meteorology to kids

While there are dozens of weather apps to keep adults aware of what Mother Nature has going on, kids have been left out the cold – until now. A just-released weather app designed by a meteorologist and his son brings the weather to kids in terms they can understand while educating them on the science of meteorology.

Kid Weather was created by our friend, Justin Berk, meteorologist, and his six-year-old son Brendan.  With winter weather set to strike Colorado the timing of the apps release couldn’t be better!

The normally tranquil ocean front of New South Wales, Australia saw much different conditions as Mother Nature brought severe thunderstorms to the area on Sunday. Weather Channel names first two winter storms, weather community mocks network

When The Weather Channel (TWC) unilaterally announced it would start naming winter storms last month, it was widely panned and greeted with ridicule and concern.
