After taking the oath of office for his second term, President Barack Obama laid out his vision for the next four years and included a call to action to battle the ‘threat of climate change.’

Following on the release of data showing the United States saw its hottest year on record, the nation’s agencies responsible for monitoring climate said this week that 2012 temperatures globally were similarly well above normal.
Using slightly different methodology, NASA and NOAA ranked global temperatures in 2012 as the 9th and 10th warmest on record respectively. The difference in ranking is considered irrelevant and has global warming alarmists touting the figures as proof of man’s impact on the Earth’s climate.

If you thought last year was warmer than normal the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) says you thought correctly. Providing a voice of reason to the sometimes hysterical ravings of climate change alarmists, the scientific journal Nature cautions today that connecting global warming to disasters is not so easy. The jury is in fact still out on whether extreme weather events can be attributed to anthropogenic global warming, despite what some may say. Scientists announced yesterday that Arctic sea ice had completed its summer melt and in the end reached the lowest extent since satellite measurements began. Prince William and Kate Middleton continued a tour of the Pacific with a visit to the tiny island nation of Tuvalu yesterday. For more than a decade the so-called ‘sinking island’ has been held up as an example of the dangers of manmade climate change yet the duke and duchess cannot see the effects because there are none. Hyperbole from climate change alarmists is nothing new with many of the biggest purveyors of the theory seemingly wanting to one-up the comments of the others. Former vice president Al Gore has always been one to provide interesting quotes and this week equated extreme weather events to Biblical catastrophes. Saying that the warming climate is a direct result of human activity, the American Meteorological Society released a revised statement on climate change today.
