Denver sets new record high temperature for November 9th

We knew today would be the warmest day of the weekend and not only did that hold true, it was a record setting performance.

As measured at DIA, Denver’s high temperature today reached 77 degrees (as of this writing). That bested the record high temperature for November 9th of 76 degrees set in 1927.

Here in Thornton, we were a bit warmer with a high of 79 degrees.

Another record falls as Denver sees its coldest Halloween temperature on record

Record Cold Temperatures

The storm might be over but its effects continue to be felt in the form of very cold temperatures. This morning Denver recorded its coldest temperature ever for October 31.

In the pre-dawn hours the temperature at Denver International Airport dropped to 7 degrees. This handily bested the record low temperature for the date of 10 degrees set in 1991.

Here in Thornton we were just a bit colder with a low of 5 degrees.

This is the third cold temperature record set in recent days. It follows a record low maximum on the 29th and a record low yesterday.

With the snow yesterday also came unusually cold temperatures. Yesterday’s high temperature was the coldest recorded for the date and now Denver has set a record low temperature.

Denver’s official temperature this morning dropped to 3 degrees as measured at Denver International Airport. That broke the record low temperature for October 30 of 7 degrees set in 1991.

Thornton saw similarly bone-chilling cold with a low of 4 degrees this morning.

Today, temperatures are going to run about 40 degrees below normal. Further, there is a good chance we set another record low temperature tomorrow morning. The record low for October 31 is 10 degrees and current indications are we could dip to near 0 degrees.

Not only did we receive a healthy shot of snow with this latest storm, we also saw some very cold temperatures. In fact, the first of what could be a few cold temperature records has been set.

As measured at Denver International Airport, the Mile High City’s official high temperature today was only 18 degrees. Not only was that more than 40 degrees below average, it also sets a record for the coldest high temperature for October 29.  The old record was 25 degrees set in 1993.

Here in Thornton, we were just a bit “warmer” with a high of 20 degrees.

The record-breaking cold is not done either. There is a good chance Denver sets a record low tomorrow morning and on Thursday morning.

Denver sets record low temperature for the second day in a row

Record Cold Temperatures

Last night temperatures dropped into record-setting territory. This morning that trend continued and set a record low temperature for October 11 as well.

As measured at Denver International Airport, the Mile High City’s official low temperature this morning was 9 degrees. That absolutely shattered the previous record low temperature for the date of 22 degrees set in 1946.

Thornton saw extremely cold temperatures as well, although not quite as cold as DIA. Our low came in at 15 degrees.

On a related note, yesterday’s snowfall was the first of the season and brought Thornton 3.3 inches of the white stuff.  Officially, as measured at DIA, Denver recorded 1.0 inches.

Friday and the weekend will see us break out of the cold with a warming trend that will see mercury levels back near normal on Sunday. Get the forecast here.

Denver sets record low temperature for October 10

Record Cold TemperaturesWhile our first snowfall of the season had ended, the cold was just beginning.

Just before midnight on Thursday, the temperature at Denver International Airport fell to 13 degrees.

This easily beat the record low temperature for October 10 of 17 degrees set in 2009.

Thornton managed to stay warmer with our low of 20 degrees coming in the morning.

The temperature will continue to drop tonight and into early Friday morning. It starts with record setting cold and now we will wait and see just how cold it gets.

Looking ahead, the weekend will offer up gradually warming temperatures with Sunday returning us to near normal readings.

Denver sets record high temperature for September 5, third high temp record of the month

Record High TemperaturesOnly five days into the month of September and the heat has records falling left and right.

Today, at 2:05pm, the temperature at Denver International Airport where Denver’s official readings are taken, reached 98 degrees. This topped the previous record high for September 5 of 97 degrees set in 2013 and 1899.

Here in Thornton we were actually warmer with a high of 99 degrees coming at 2:58pm.

Today’s record comes on the heels of record highs on the 1st and the 2nd of the month.

The 100 degree high of the 2nd was also the latest 100 degree reading ever recorded in Denver and also the warmest September temperature on record.

Record High Temperatures

Yesterday, Denver set a record high temperature for the month of September. We followed that up by breaking the day-old record and also breaking two others.

The high temperature today in the Mile High City, as measured at Denver International Airport, topped out at 100 degrees.

This easily tops the record high temperature for September 2 of 95 degrees set in 1983. Further, this is the hottest temperature ever recorded in Denver in the month of September, topping yesterday’s record-setting 98 degrees.

Lastly, this is the latest a 100 degree or higher reading has been recorded in Denver. The previous latest was August 16, 2002.

Thornton actually was a touch warmer today with a high of 101 degrees.

Denver sets record high for September 1 and for the entire month of September

Record High TemperaturesIt was a hot one indeed! We knew the potential was there for record-breaking heat this Labor Day weekend and indeed it came to fruition.

Denver’s high temperature today, as measured at DIA, topped out at 98 degrees at 1:17pm.

This not only set a new record high temperature for September 1 but it also marks the warmest temperature ever recorded in the Mile High City in the month September.

The previous record high for today, and for September, was 97 degrees set in 1995.

Here in Thornton, we managed to actually be hotter than DIA, topping out at 101 degrees.

If that wasn’t hot enough for you, wait till tomorrow as we may see today’s record setting readings broken.

Denver ties record high temperature for August 19

Record High Temperatures

As expected, temperatures across the Front Range climbed toward record-setting territory today and the Mile High City tied the 21 year old record high.

As measured at Denver International Airport, Denver’s high temperature today hit 99 degrees. That tied the old record high for the date set in 1998.

Here in Thornton, we matched that 99 degree reading at 1:49pm.
