Denver shatters record high temperature for June 15

Record High Temperature

The heat is on! The high pressure ridge that refuses to move continues to bring the heat and today put mercury readings in record setting territory.

As measured at Denver International Airport, the Mile High City’s official high temperature today reached 101 degrees. These easily topped the old record high for June 15 of 97 degrees set in 1951 and 1993.

Here in  Thornton, we were just a touch “cooler” with a high of 100 degrees.

Denver sets record high temperature for April 4

Record High Temperature

Following on yesterday’s record-tying mercury reading, Denver bested that with a record-setting high temperature today.

As measured at Denver International Airport, the Mile High City’s official high temperature reached 80 degrees. This easily breaks the previous record high for April 4 of 76 degrees set in 1959.

Here in Thornton, we were even warmer with a high of 81 degrees.

Record High Temperature

A beautiful day along the Colorado Front Range and one that has entered the record books.

As measured at Denver International Airport, the official high temperature today in the Mile High City topped out at 78 degrees. This tied the record high for April 3 set in 1943.

Here in Thornton, we were just a touch warmer with a high of 79 degrees.

Tomorrow looks to be a record-setter as well. The record high for April 4 is 76 degrees set in 1967 and years prior. With a forecast indicating highs near 80 degrees, that record will likely fall.

Denver sets record low temperature for February 14

Record Cold Temperatures

It’s a cold one and one that easily enters the record books.

As measured at Denver International Airport, the Mile High City saw a low temperature of -14 degrees. This easily bests the previous record low for February 14 of -10 degrees set in 1903.

Additionally, the high temperature only reached 1 degree. This is the coldest high temperature recorded for the date. The old record was 8 degrees set in 1895.

Here in Thornton we didn’t get quite as cold with a low of -9 degrees and a high of 5 degrees.

Denver sets record high temperature for November 4

Record High Temperature

Our mild weather continued today and set another record, the third in the past two days.

Officially, as measured at Denver International Airport, the high temperature today topped out at 77 degrees. This just beat out the previous record high for November 4th of 76 degrees set over 100 years ago in 1915.

Thornton was similarly warm but just a touch cooler, recording a high of 75 degrees for the second day in a row.

Denver ties one warm weather record for November 3, breaks another

This mild weather has been quite nice but it certainly is not normal for this time of year with mercury readings well above average. The Mile High City saw two weather records tied or broken on Tuesday.

As measured at DIA, Denver saw a high temperature of 79 degrees. This tied the record high for November 3rd last set in 1915.

Additionally, a record high minimum was set as the low temperature only dropped to 48 degrees. This bested the old record of 46 degrees set in 1940.

Here in Thornton, we were cooler across the board with a high of 75 degrees and a low of 37 degrees.

Denver sets record low temperature for October 27

Record Cold Temperatures

Brrr! Following our snowstorm, the cold has lingered and this morning plunged into record-setting territory.

Denver’s official low temperature this morning, as measured at DIA, dropped to 8 degrees. This easily bests the previous record low for October 27 of 11 degrees set in 1925.

Thornton actually came out on the colder end of things this morning with a low of 5 degrees recorded at 5:37am.

Today’s cold weather record comes on the tail of a record low maximum set yesterday that also was the coldest high temperature ever recorded in October.

Record Cold Temperatures

Oh, yes, it was a surprisingly cold one today with temperature readings more like what we would expect in January, not the end of October.

As measured at Denver International Airport, the Mile High City’s official high temperature today topped out at 16 degrees. That shatters the record for the coldest maximum temperature ever recorded on October 26 of 31 degrees set in 1923.

Perhaps more notable, that 16 degree high temperature is the coldest October high temperature EVER recorded in Denver.

Here in Thornton we managed to be just a little bit warmer with a high of 17 degrees.

Given the cold today and clear skies tonight, it is likely Denver will be setting a record low temperature tomorrow morning.

Denver ties one cold weather temperature record for September 9, breaks another

As our first taste of wintry weather for the season comes to an end, we close it out with two more weather records in the books.

This morning, as measured at Denver International Airport, the temperature dropped to 31 degrees. This ties the Mile High City’s record low for September 9 set in 1962.

The daytime didn’t bring much relief as the high at the airport only reached 42 degrees. This shatters the old record low maximum for the date of 53 degrees set in 1989.

Here in Thornton, we matched both of those marks with a low of 31 degrees and a high of 42 degrees.

The past few days have seen an extraordinary bout of weather as we went from record heat to record cold. The graphic below shows just some of what has occurred.
