Denver sets record high temperature for June 16

Record High Temperature

The month of June has been unseasonably warm overall thus far. However, we had avoided any records – until today.

As measured at Denver International Airport, the Mile High City’s high temperature today reached 96 degrees. This tops the old record high temperature for today’s date of 95 degrees last set in 2017.

Here in Thornton, we were just a touch cooler with a high of 95 degrees.

Looking ahead, we will again be into the 90s tomorrow but then we catch a break for a couple days with cooler than normal temperatures. See the extended weather forecast here.

We knew getting our first 90 degree reading of the year was a possibility today and sure enough, we did. Not only that, Denver also set a record high temperature for the date.

As measured at Denver International Airport, the high temperature in the Mile High City hit 92 degrees today. That tops the old record high temperature for May 19 of 90 degrees set in 2009.

Thornton held itself just a bit cooler with a high of 91 degrees.

On average, Denver sees its first 90 degree day on June 10 so we are a few weeks ahead of schedule.

Denver sets record low temperature for April 14, third cold temp record in two days

Record Cold Temperatures

When the cold of the past 36 hours or so is called “unprecedented”, that is a very accurate statement as Denver has seen three cold temperature records fall.

The latest record set came this morning when the low temperature in Denver as measured at Denver International Airport dropped to 11 degrees. That shatters the previous record low temperature for the date of 15 degrees set in 1933. Thornton stayed warmer but still in record-setting territory with a low of 14 degrees.

This morning’s record follows on two temperature records set yesterday. The record low temperature and the record low maximum for April 13 were bested in what has been an unusually cold period that began Sunday.

Record Cold Temperatures

A second cold temperature record of the day has fallen.

The high temperature in Denver as measured at Denver International Airport only reached 25 degrees today. That breaks the previous record low maximum for the date of 27 degrees set in 1933. Here in Thornton we were just a touch “warmer” with a high of 26 degrees.

This follows on a record low temperature that was set this morning. Additionally, there is a good chance we will break the record low temperature tomorrow morning for April 14th as well.

Denver sets new record high temperature for November 9th

Record High Temperature

We knew today would be the warmest day of the weekend and not only did that hold true, it was a record setting performance.

As measured at DIA, Denver’s high temperature today reached 77 degrees (as of this writing). That bested the record high temperature for November 9th of 76 degrees set in 1927.

Here in Thornton, we were a bit warmer with a high of 79 degrees.

Hopefully you enjoyed it as cooler weather lies ahead. See our extended forecast for details.

Another record falls as Denver sees its coldest Halloween temperature on record

Record Cold Temperatures

The storm might be over but its effects continue to be felt in the form of very cold temperatures. This morning Denver recorded its coldest temperature ever for October 31.

In the pre-dawn hours the temperature at Denver International Airport dropped to 7 degrees. This handily bested the record low temperature for the date of 10 degrees set in 1991.

Here in Thornton we were just a bit colder with a low of 5 degrees.

This is the third cold temperature record set in recent days. It follows a record low maximum on the 29th and a record low yesterday.

Octobrrr as Denver sets record low temperature for October 30

Record Cold Temperatures

With the snow yesterday also came unusually cold temperatures. Yesterday’s high temperature was the coldest recorded for the date and now Denver has set a record low temperature.

Denver’s official temperature this morning dropped to 3 degrees as measured at Denver International Airport. That broke the record low temperature for October 30 of 7 degrees set in 1991.

Thornton saw similarly bone-chilling cold with a low of 4 degrees this morning.

Today, temperatures are going to run about 40 degrees below normal. Further, there is a good chance we set another record low temperature tomorrow morning. The record low for October 31 is 10 degrees and current indications are we could dip to near 0 degrees.

Denver sets record low maximum for October 29

Record Cold Temperatures

Not only did we receive a healthy shot of snow with this latest storm, we also saw some very cold temperatures. In fact, the first of what could be a few cold temperature records has been set.

As measured at Denver International Airport, the Mile High City’s official high temperature today was only 18 degrees. Not only was that more than 40 degrees below average, it also sets a record for the coldest high temperature for October 29.  The old record was 25 degrees set in 1993.

Here in Thornton, we were just a bit “warmer” with a high of 20 degrees.

The record-breaking cold is not done either. There is a good chance Denver sets a record low tomorrow morning and on Thursday morning.

Denver sets record low temperature for the second day in a row

Record Cold Temperatures

Last night temperatures dropped into record-setting territory. This morning that trend continued and set a record low temperature for October 11 as well.

As measured at Denver International Airport, the Mile High City’s official low temperature this morning was 9 degrees. That absolutely shattered the previous record low temperature for the date of 22 degrees set in 1946.

Thornton saw extremely cold temperatures as well, although not quite as cold as DIA. Our low came in at 15 degrees.

On a related note, yesterday’s snowfall was the first of the season and brought Thornton 3.3 inches of the white stuff.  Officially, as measured at DIA, Denver recorded 1.0 inches.

Friday and the weekend will see us break out of the cold with a warming trend that will see mercury levels back near normal on Sunday. Get the forecast here.
